In short: every visitor to Fernando de Noronha pays two mandatory fees. The state environmental fee (TPA) grows with the length of your stay: R$520.50 for 5 days in 2026. The national marine park ticket costs R$393 for foreign visitors (R$196.50 for Brazilians) and is valid for 10 days. A foreign visitor staying 5 days therefore pays R$913.50 per person in fees, before flights and lodging. If your credit card was issued outside Brazil, you can’t pay the TPA online: you pay at the airport counter on the island.

The two fees every visitor pays

🌿

Environmental fee (TPA)

Charged by the Fernando de Noronha State District to everyone who doesn’t live on the island. It is per person, per day, and the daily rate increases for longer stays. In 2026 one day costs R$105.79 (official TPA page).

🎫

Marine national park ticket

Charged by ICMBio for the Fernando de Noronha Marine National Park, about 70% of the archipelago. From November 1, 2026: R$393 for the general public, including foreign visitors, and R$196.50 for Brazilians (official park page).

Do I need both? In practice, yes. The TPA is required to stay on the island. Without the park ticket you can still use the beaches in the environmental protection area, such as Cacimba do Padre and Conceição, but not Baía do Sancho, Baía dos Porcos, Sueste or the booked trails.

TPA 2026: total by length of stay

The table shows the total TPA per person, as published by the Fernando de Noronha administration for 2026. The rate per day drops slightly after day 4 and then rises steeply after day 10, which is designed to discourage long stays.

Values in Brazilian reais (R$), from the official TPA table for 2026 and the park ticket price in force from November 1, 2026. Fees are adjusted every year for inflation. Check the official pages before you pay.

Watch out for extra days: if you stay longer than the days you paid for and the extension wasn’t authorized in advance by the island administration, the extra days are charged at double the rate (Lei nº 11.704, art. 86, cited on the official TPA page).

Paying the TPA with a foreign credit card

The official site recommends paying the TPA online before you travel, by credit card or boleto (a Brazilian bank slip). That route does not work for most foreign visitors: according to the Fernando de Noronha administration, cards issued outside Brazil can’t be used online, and you must pay at the counter at Fernando de Noronha airport when you land.

  • Have the card you will use ready when you land, and allow time at the airport counter before heading to your guesthouse.
  • If you need to extend your stay, ask the island administration to authorize it in advance; otherwise the extra days are charged double.

The park ticket, trails and bookings

You can buy the park ticket online at tickets.parnanoronha.com.br or in person at the ICMBio Visitor Center in Boldró, open daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Online, you enter your arrival date and enter the park with a QR code. Children under 12 are exempt.

Flights to Fernando de Noronha

The island’s airport (FEN) is served by domestic flights only, so international visitors connect in mainland Brazil. Recife (REC) is the main gateway. Routes from other cities change often: Azul ended its Natal flights in March 2025, and GOL announced a return with flights from São Paulo-Guarulhos and Recife for the 2025–26 summer season. Search your dates on the airlines’ sites before you plan the rest of your trip, because seats on the small aircraft sell out first.

Plan a buffer: schedule at least one night in Recife on the way back before an international flight. Island flights are few, and a delay can cost you your connection.

When to go

PeriodWhat to expect
March to JulyRainy season. The island is greener, and underwater visibility is lower.
August to OctoberUsually the clearest water for snorkeling and diving, with visibility reported up to 60 m in September; also a busy period.
November to MarchSeason of big ocean swells. Surf on the open-sea side; some boat trips may not run and visibility drops.
Late December to JanuaryPeak demand around New Year’s and the Brazilian summer holidays.

Seasonal pattern from travel reporting (360meridianos, updated 2023); conditions vary each year.

What the fees don’t cover

The fees are only the entry cost. Flights to the island, lodging, island transport (bus, taxi or rented buggy), boat trips, diving and meals are all extra, and many things cost more than on the mainland because most supplies arrive by ship or plane. Most lodging is in small guesthouses (pousadas) rather than large resorts, so expect a nature-first island, not a Caribbean resort experience.

How to keep costs under control

Pick the shortest stay that fits your plans (4 to 5 days covers the main beaches and booked trails), book flights early, and use the free beaches of the environmental protection area on the days you don’t book trails.

Mobile data on the island

An eSIM set up before you land lets you show your park QR code and booking vouchers without depending on Wi-Fi.
